I started this page to assist South African’s, and visitors to South Africa, with survival in the South African context, whether it be in emergencies while out hiking, Camping or just surviving the extraordinary circumstances that we find ourselves in, in our everyday lives in RSA.
What makes me qualified to do this? I am not a Doctor, I am not a cook nor am I a professional hiking guide. I am a South African that grew up in the city, spent all my youth in the Boy Scouts hiking, camping and learning until I received my Chief Scout’s Award. I spent every spare moment when not hiking or camping, swimming in the sea and fishing.
As an adult I was trained as a police officer and did counterinsurgency training and riot training, I spent weeks in the bush tracking and searching for criminals, stolen livestock and illegal daga (Hemp) plantations in the forests.
I spent years in the rural areas as a policeman doing special investigations and was the Station Commander of in a Farming Community Police Station. I ran a Private Rural Policing company that specialised in Farm watch for many years.
So No, I am not an expert. I am just a person that has spent years in the veld, practising the survival techniques that I am going to show you in my articles and Video Training. There will be some Items that I as a trainer have been trained to teach and there will be items that I have researched. If I have not done it myself, I will say it in the article.
Hi Bryan
Great concept. My wife and I are sassa pensioners so really have to stretch our diminishing Rands.
Have trawled many, many American sites – all good and well, if you live in the US and have US dime to spend. Principles do, however, tend to remain similar, though.
Like the concept of re-supplying. Also like the dedicated SAsite – our situation here is both volatile and dynamic, in the sense that it’s constantly changing and difficult to forecast.
Really pleased to read this.
Best,
Guy
Hey Bryan, very cool site man!! Picked up your link from a preppers group. I see good practical stuff you have posted.. Important to have a SA orientated prepper web site like yours.. I wasted a lot of time on American based prepper stuff.
Early days for me here.. will work my way through it in weeks to come..
Hi Frank and thank you for the very kind words. It has always been my plan to provide alternatives to the extremely ex[ensive imported goods. A lot of them we can make ourselves and I am sure, id one does not have the time or the inclination, one could find someone locally that could make what you require. I just object to being ripped off. That being said, I see a lot of people ripping new preppers off with subgrade products.
Watch this space as I am busy with developing a site for our people to sell and swop what they have made at home. A lot of people need a free portal to be able to sell their goods to earn a living. Thanks again and please spread the word. I am happy to answer any questions and to help people that need help, especially people new to prepping.
Best regards
Bryanb
